Horseshoe Bend Area Information

Horseshoe Bend, this area encompasses the peninsula that makes one side of the first thirteen miles of the Lake of the Ozarks.  The community has developed over the years into a full service resort area including golf courses, restaurants, spas, full resorts, marinas, grocery stores and other amenities that have made Horseshoe Bend a highly desired address at the Lake of the Ozarks.

Commonly called “H.H.”, a named gleaned from the original narrow county road that ran its length.  That road has been renamed Horseshoe Bend Parkway, but it remains “H.H.” to many.  Horseshoe Bend was one of the first areas at the Lake of the Ozarks to feature planned developments, zoning restrictions, and major resorts.  Black Hawk Estates was an early subdivision, The Village of Four Seasons later followed with a larger development that spanned from the 1970’s to the 1990’s.

Horseshoe Bend is also home to a number of condominium developments and several resorts.  One resort that defined the area was Harold Koplar’s, Lodge of the Four Seasons. Opening in 1964, the Lodge of the Four Seasons promoted the beauty and charm of the Lake of the Ozarks for decades to tens of thousands of guests from across the globe.  The Village of Four Seasons was closely associated to the resort and land sales were part of original focus of the development.

Another large commercial development in recent years was the Toad Cove Development, encompassing the Horny Toad, and adjoining resort and hotel-condominium project.  In the past two years the complex has changed hands and is currently operates as Camden on the Lake.  This development has showcased the development opportunity that exists at the Lake of the Ozarks, especially in a prime location like Horseshoe Bend.

Horseshoe Bend is one of the most developed communities at the Lake of the Ozarks featuring parks, walking paths, a growing full time group of residents and continued growth in both residential and commercial development.  As more residents have began to call Horseshoe Bend their permanent residence it has definitely grown as a community and taken on a character of its own.
